Deadline for Shadow Day applications. Members learn about state government and shadow a legislator for 1/2 a day. SAM_0872
In 2014 a Shadow Day participant said: “What a great day at the State Capitol! I had an amazing time shadowing a Representative! I learned so much and had a great time meeting everyone including house minority leader.”

January 23 at 4 pm is the deadline for DELTA DENTAL mini grants. Delta Dental Serve a Smile Mini Grant Opportunity  Grant overview and project examples are available at  www.mnyouth.net/work/serve-a-smile.
MN FCCLA, Minnesota Alliance With Youth and Delta Dental of Minnesota Foundation are pleased to announce the 12th annual Serve a Smile mini-grant program. Through the generosity of Delta Dental of Minnesota Foundation, over $25,000 in mini-grant funding will be made available to Minnesota youth-led service/service-learning projects that address important oral health or health issues. Mini-grant awards of up to $1000 will support youth affiliated with schools and youth-serving community organizations in Minnesota, offering young people essential funds as they envision ways to create healthier schools and communities.  The Serve A Smile Grant Application, a grant overview and project examples are available at www.mnyouth.net/work/serve-a-smile. FEBRUARY 13 State Conference Registration Due

February 13 CHAPTER REGISTRATION FOR STATE CONFERENCE IS DUE. LATE FEES APPLY AFTER THIS DATE. It is April 16-18 and the most awesome speakers! (some celebrities) and (leadership workshops) and career fair!! LIGHTS! CAMERA! ACTION! You will not want to miss.

Goals are:
  1. Increase FCCLA member’s awareness of state government and the political process.
  2. See first hand the duties of elected officials or policy makers and their staff.
  3. Develop an awareness of current issues, especially those relating to families.
  4. Explore career options of public service.
  5. Educate local chapters, school, and/or communities about the impact of the shadowing experience.
  6. To become an advocate for family, career and community issues.
