Engage

Minnesota Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (MN FCCLA) is a Career and Technical Student Organization that functions as an integral part of the Family and Consumer Sciences education curriculum and operates within the school system.

With programming focused on personal and professional growth, MN FCCLA empowers youth to be active leaders in their school, family and community. Through participation in competitive events, becoming involved in community service opportunities, student leadership, and attending leadership conferences, members develop and apply real world skills, explore Career Pathways, and become college- and career-ready. Download a PDF of major FCCLA events here, 23-24 MN FCCLA Calendar, or check out our events page.

As a state association within a larger National FCCLA organization, MN FCCLA members have access programs, events, competitions and conferences at the chapter level in their school (local), the area level, the state level and at the national level.

At the Local Level
At the Local Level (in the school) Each chapter has the freedom to customize their FCCLA experience to provide the best experience for their students with the resources available. Many times this includes working on competitions and projects, community service projects, fundraising to support participation with state and national events, peer-led education workshops, doing a National program, and group building activities. Many chapters also provide leadership opportunities for students to help facilitate meetings and trainings, set priorities and manage the groups business.
At the Area Level
At the Area Level (N, CE, CW, SE, SW), members are given the opportunity to network with other leaders from nearby schools, compete against other students at area conferences, participate with peer education workshops, collaborate on service projects, and pool resources together for local trainings and rallies. The Area level also provides students with an elevated leadership opportunity where officers are responsible for planning and facilitating Fall Rallies, Mid-Winter Meetings, Area meetings at the State Conference and sometimes peer-led workshops.
At the State Level
Statewide programing leverages the work done at the local and area levels while adding deeper opportunities for networking, student leadership, professional development, personal growth, resource sharing, and a higher level of competition. Student leadership at the state level plays a crucial role in planning and facilitating Summer Leadership Camp, State activities at NLC, Fall Leadership Summit, Capitol Day, and State Conference. Students gain experience in leading workshops, energizers, event planning, as well as in nonprofit management providing direction for the organization.
At the National Level
National FCCLA provides students with an opportunity to network with, share resources amongst, and compete against 200,000 FCCLA members across the United States. National FCCLA hosts a Fall Conference, Capitol Leadership and National Conference and also provides programming for local chapters, scholarships for chapters and members, and student leadership roles.
