State Programs

2023-24 State Theme: Lights, Camera, Take Action

  1. Light your path – try new things and discover what options are available.
  1. Capture your passion – follow your interests and dedicate yourself.
  1. Take action in your community – channel your passion in ways to help yourself and your community.

Direct your future

There are several ways ways to get involved throughout the entire year:

Service projects

Experience the powerful impact of service learning where students play leadership roles in projects to better their community. As a Lead State Agency for Global Youth Service Day, the state office has ideas, resources, connections and financial support to help you make a difference on:

  • 911 Day of Service-Sept 2023
  • Martin Luther King Day of Service- January 2024
  • Global Youth Service Day – Spring 2024

Build your group

The state is only as successful as it’s local chapters, take on a leadership role in building yours up. Work to increase the size and diversity of your membership. Connect with the state office and other experienced advisors for tips on marketing FCCLA to students, parents, school administration and fundraising strategies.

Strengthen your group

Work to create an engaged chapter by integrating FCCLA into the classroom, holding regular meetings, hosting state developed peer led trainings, participating in national programs and planning out your year.

Represent MN FCCLA in the media

Promote FCCLA on your own social media accounts, submit writeup to local newspapers, post on your school’s website, submit someone for the FCCLA Spotlight.

Take on an official leadership role

Run for Office in 2024! Running and holding an office provides students with a meaningful leadership role packed full of opportunities for personal and professional growth, networking with other leaders within FCCLA and beyond, and valuable lessons in teamwork as you’re working as an important piece of the larger MN FCCLA group. MN FCCLA is a student led organization and needs your help to be it’s best version.

Apply your skills and knowledge in STAR Events

Students Taking Action with Recognition (STAR) Events are Competitive Events in which members compete at the area, state, and national level and are recognized for proficiency and achievement in chapter and individual projects, leadership skills, and career preparation. There are more than 30 STAR Events students can choose to compete in, all which recognize participants who demonstrate their knowledge, skills, and abilities to actively identify an issue concerning families, careers, or communities, research the topic, and develop and implement a project to advocate for positive change.

Attend Conferences and Events

Invest in yourself and connect with others at conferences and events at the area, state and national levels. Throughout the year there are ample opportunities to learn new skills, gain new knowledge and perspectives, discover new resources and network with fellow leaders. Check out the 23-24 MN FCCLA Calendar for snapshot of events.
