The Lori Henry NLC Scholarship provides an MN FCCLA member with an opportunity to fulfill their dream of attending NLC. MN FCCLA realizes that that circumstances may not enable all student members to attend without assistance.
Lori was a strong proponent of empowering everyone to reach their full potential and experience everything FCCLA has to offer.
This scholarship will help offset those cost covering transportation, hotel and registration for the National Leadership Conference and will be awarded based on community engagement, FCCLA involvement, and financial need.

Lori’s awards during her teaching tenure included being named Spring Lake Park Schools 2007 Teacher of the Year, 2010 Delta Dental Outstanding Youth Leadership Award, 2020 FCCLA – 75th Anniversary Leadership Hall of Fame, 2021 MN Teacher of the year for the MN Association of Family & Consumer Sciences and the 2021 National Teacher of the Year for the American Association of Family & Consumer Sciences. Between herself and her students from 1994 – 2023, Lori and her FCCLA students were awarded over 100 awards, national and state leadership awards and officer positions. This made her one of the top reigning teachers for helping her students achieve their award goals for public speaking and career goals including Human Services, Hospitality and Tourism, Education and Training, and Visual Arts and Design. Lori’s passions including baking and teaching Culinary Arts.
She was a lifelong sports fan for the Minnesota Vikings, Minnesota Twins, Minnesota Wild and Timberwolves Basketball, as well as Minnesota Gophers and high school teams. She kept her own personal record of the stats for each player and game. She enjoyed puzzles, games and casting her line for fish at Lake Vermilion. The Lori Henry Memorial Scholarship Fund is dedicated to honoring the remarkable legacy of Lori Henry, a beloved and influential figure in the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) community. Lori’s passion for empowering students and her unwavering commitment to their personal and professional development have inspired countless individuals.
This scholarship fund aims to continue Lori’s mission by providing financial support to students, empowering them to take full advantage of opportunities for professional development, personal growth, and meaningful social connections within the FCCLA community. By supporting the Lori Henry Memorial Scholarship Fund, you are contributing to the future success of students who embody Lori’s spirit of dedication, leadership, and community service. Scholarships will benefit students interested in the becoming a teacher in the Consumer Sciences, Hospitality Industry and the Visual Arts.
Criteria:
- Academic achievement
- Financial need
- Community Engagement
- School and FCCLA involvement
Requirements:
- All applicants must have a GPA of no less than 3.0.
- Must be an affiliated member of MN FCCLA for a minimum of 2 years
- The recipient must have a chaperone or adhere to rules of one assigned to them.
- The recipient must fulfill all their responsibilities at the conference including attending certain sessions and competing in competitions or a facilitation role with state events.
Applicants will be asked to provide:
- Short essays describing their FCCLA experiences, perseverance, leadership, or how this scholarship would help them
- Resume of FCCLA involvement, awards, as well as other work, education and volunteering efforts
- 2 letters of recommendation, 1 from chapter adviser, 1 from another community leader
- GPA
- Completed online application
- Completed and signed Lori Henry Scholarship Acknowledgement Form
