Posted by Patrick | December 4, 2016 |

It’s Fun! Work individually or as a team! Show us what you know and have learned! Set you goal to get to Nashville for the National FCCLA competitions in July.

goodhue-at-san-diegoWe strongly encourage anyone to do a STAR Event (Students Taking Action with Recognition).  Doing a STAR Event is a great chance to explore your future with FCCLA. Members can compete with their STAR Event at the area, state, and/or national level.

Here are just five reasons do a STAR Event:

nashville-2013
There is a STAR Event category for everyone! STAR Events can also help you develop new passions and interests. Be sure to talk to your chapter advisor and I am sure you will be able to find the perfect category for you.

Your STAR Event can take you to Nashville, Tennessee.  Doing a STAR Event allows you to attend are, state, and/or national. Participating in these meetings is a phenomenal experience and you can meet many amazing members just like you!

STAR Events not only can make an impact on your life, but it may influence those around you. Most STAR Events involve some form of community service allowing you to make a difference in your community and/or school.

Doing a STAR Event also helps you develop life skills that you can use in your future career. STAR Events also help you with college readiness! Participating in a STAR Event can help you be successful in any profession you chose to do in the future.

You develop time management, leadership, public speaking, organization, and countless other skills by participating in a STAR Event.

Be sure to talk to your chapter advisor to choose the perfect category for you. Competing in a STAR Event is not designed to scare you, but to show off what you have accomplished. The most important part is to have fun and enjoy the process.

See competitive events handbooks and rules. See the website: www.fcclainc.org – this is where the national rulebook is located. Advisers have access to this as they affiliate chapters.

State handbook and rules are in the Competitive Events section of this website. There are 50 different events.
