DEVELOP YOUR LEADERSHIP SKILLS BY BEING AN OFFICER CANDIDATE!

Posted by Patrick | January 9, 2017 |

TAKE THE CHALLENGE! DARE TO EXPLORE YOUR LEADERSHIP SKILLS!

Have you ever thought about running for an office in FCCLA? It doesn’t have to be as big as running for a State or National position, it could be running for an Area position or just a Chapter Office. By running for an office I learned different skills to help me in life.

  • You can gain confidence, improve your communication skills as you become a better speaker and listener.
  • You learn how to compromise for the betterment of the group you are working with.
  • You also learn how to become more organized, set and achieve goals by following the planning process, and you learn how to be part of a team.

If you want to run for office there are a few things you need to do.

img_0419First you need to talk to your adviser and create a plan of action to get to your goal of achieving that position. Then you need to fill out your application. Each application process is different depending on what you are applying for. If you are going on to apply for an Area Officer position, you would create a speech to say at State during your Area Meetings.

This may seem like a lot of work, but trust me it isn’t. Now is the perfect time to consider running for an office, it is an experience you wouldn’t trade for the world!
