As Wendy wraps up her career as MNFCCLA director, we take a moment to thank her for her years of service and dedication to FCCLA.
Over the past 36 years under Wendy’s supervision, Minnesota FCCLA grew into a strong and vibrant organization with many changes. Some of those changes included the name change of Future Homemakers of America to Future Leaders of America to Minnesota FCCLA. She encouraged FCCLA chapters to become integrated into the classroom and more gender friendly.
Wendy supervised 36 years of state officers and numerous years of national FCCLA officers. She created leadership experiences for students that included leadership camps, region officer training, and state officer training and has provided advisor training, board of directors training and much more.
“I remember the day that Wendy was hired for the Executive Director position. Audrey Grote told me we got a really good one! Yes, Wendy had a very long and successful career with FCCLA! After hearing the news, a few of us state employees sat together at a basement table at Capitol Square and celebrated.” -Joleen Durken
Working with alumni, business partners and multiple non-profits groups, Wendy promoted MN FCCLA throughout Minnesota. Wendy oversaw many projects including taking students to Day at the Capitol working on service projects for Global Youth Service Day.
The last years of Wendy’s supervision involved creating a meaningful State Leadership Conference providing online star events, and a State Leadership Conference held at the Mall of America and Boy Scouts Base Camp.

Over the years, Wendy served on the FCCLA national board of directors and received recognition for her efforts as the FCCLA National State Advisor of the Year award and the FCCLA National Distinguished Service Award.
