Some ways to help manage stress – Kieran Sween

Posted by MN FCCLA | April 3, 2020 |

Before this all started we had a routine and we had people we talked to everyday. We are starting to get a new routine, but we can all get lonely when we have to be quarantined. There are many residents of nursing homes who aren’t able to get visitors anymore for the safety of the residents. One thing we can do to try to help the residents feel better is to call them. This is a good compromise because this allows residents to have a little more human interaction while still helping them be safe.

This time is not what anyone expected to have happen this spring and for many students, it is still a very stressful time. There are a few things you can do to help manage stress so we can hopefully be back to normal soon. Though there are not many things we have to do outside of the house that might have helped create structure and routine in our normal lives we can still create a routine for ourselves and that might help us feel a little more normal. I like to remind myself what I have to do with a google calendar. You can plan out your days to help you keep on track. With this extra time, you also will have time you might not have otherwise had to try a new hobby or do something that you may have not had time to do before. Some fun things that you can try that I like to do are baking something, reading a book or do fun self-care stuff like doing facemasks! If you can’t get out of the house to go to a library or something you can even get apps on your phone to read and get books. I hope some of you try new things during this time, even though it’s not what we had planned.
