FCCLA Adviser Honored as Teacher of the Year
Jill Curry, a family and consumer science teacher at the High School, was honored as New Ulm Schools 2013 Teacher of the Year. The ceremonies took place Wednesday night at the District 88 employee recognition banquet at the New Ulm Community Center.
Jill Curry has taught family and consumer science, or FACS, for nearly 30 years, before the label even existed, said presenter Ryan Ziemer, who nominated Curry for the award.
Ziemer pointed out Curry’s professional versatility and her passion for the various programs she has been involved with: dance team, gymnastics, FCCLA, etc.
When coworkers at the High School heard of Curry’s nomination, two phrases dominated the conversation: “so deserving” and “long overdue,” stressed Ziemer.
Jill is the FCCLA adviser for New Ulm FCCLA.
