Recently MN FCCLA members were in national competition in Nashville for the National STAR Events.
118 FCCLA junior and senior high students competed. MN students earned 75 Gold medals, 42 Silver and 1 Bronze medals.
FCCLA is a dynamic and effective student organization that helps young men and young women become leaders and address important personal, family, work and societal issues through career and technical family and consumer sciences education.
FCCLA helps members in many ways. STAR Events (Students taking action with recognition) competitive events give members an opportunity to show what they know with a rigorous presentation, project or portfolio.
- 98% of STAR Event participants said that STAR Events increased their presentation/ public speaking skills.
- 90% of STAR Event participants say STAR Events will be useful in their future.
- 78% of STAR Event participants plan to pursue higher education or careers related to their STAR Event topic.
Participants report that the top skills they learn are:
- Planning and time management
- Responsibility
- Self- Confidence
- Leadership
- Creativity.
